CASSETTE DUET – June 6, 2026 – festival La Maison Danse – Uzès
At 10 pm, in the garden bar. More info: here
CASSETTE-DUET is an adaptation of CASSETTE, a contemporary dance show created in 2011 that is inspired by the classical ballet The Nutcracker. He extracts from it everything that corresponds to its identity: the figure of the couple, the fantastical tale, the folk dances, and the romantic and exotic musical score, so as to confront these with ballroom dances (rumba, chachacha…) and question the codes of the ballet through accentuation.
CASSETTE-DUET by David Wampach pairs two of the play’s original dancers, whose ballroom dance moves exude sheer glee and pleasure in close proximity to their audience, performing in both indoor and outdoor areas that differ greatly from the theatre.
CASSETTE-DUET first saw the day during the Parades performance festival, organised by the FIAC – the International Contemporary Art Fair held in Paris in collaboration with the Petit Palais exhibition centre.

OF MADNESS
OF FOLIA
OF FOLIS
AND
OF “DECONNIATRY”
Mobilizing one’s attention and beliefs, putting oneself in tension, giving one’s trust: in service of what? Pier Paolo Pasolini urged to “throw one’s body into the battle,” perhaps to end up disregarding everything and talking about MADNESS, in the masculine.
It is time to wake up, to break out of isolation, confinement, to feel. Going to the mountains, shouting from the top, chopping wood, warming oneself… Am I talking nonsense? Am I reading too much news? Am I cultivating the fear and anxiety generated by this toxic environment? Am I mad, or is someone trying to make me believe that I am?
One should, like Antonin Artaud, return to the atomic body, as opposed to the anatomical body, stripped of its organs and automatons, returned to its freedom, to relearn how to “dance backwards” and make this backwards my new place. In his “History of Madness in the Classical Age”, Michel Foucault shows that psychiatry, as we know it, is a Western construction based on exclusion.
